Key Claims
Arthur Schopenhauer synthesized Kantian idealism with Indian philosophy. Life is characterized by suffering driven by ceaseless, aimless Will. Liberation is achieved temporarily through pure aesthetic contemplation (especially music), and permanently through ascetic denial of the will-to-live and universal compassion.
