Key Claims

Gautama Buddha taught that suffering stems from clinging to an illusory permanent self (Anātman). Nagarjuna formalized this into Madhyamaka philosophy: because all things arise dependently (Pratītyasamutpāda), they are devoid of intrinsic reality (Śūnyatā). Realizing emptiness extinguishes grasping, unlocking compassionate wisdom.
